What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

Contacting us for information:  When you use our Contact Form to make an inquiry, we will retain your personal information to reach back out to you to answer your request. You will not be automatically added to our email list by contacting us using the Contact Form. If you wish to join our list, a separate email list opt-in is available. Personal information received via our Contact Form will be held for a period of 6 months. 

Email Opt-in:  When you choose to opt-in to our email list, we will retain the personal information entered to be used to send you future communications from us we feel might be of interest to you. This includes gallery events, art industry news, and special promotions regarding our services. You may choose to opt-out of our email list at any time using the link at the bottom of the email. We will not share your personal information with any third party. 

How we use your data

We use your data to:
To contact you in answer to your request;
To better improve our website and services to you;
To administer our website, provide you with useful content and facilitate your movement through our website; 
To offer and improve our services;
We also use Analytics information we receive to produce reports on trends and statistics, such as mobile search trends, email open rates, campaign best practices, or the number of users that have been exposed to, or clicked on, our websites or evaluated or purchased our products or services.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

As a general policy, we don’t share your data with third parties outside the scope of what is described above, i.e. using it for our email list when you have voluntarily have subscribed.

To the extent we are legally permitted to do so, we will notify you in the event that we are required to provide your personal information to third parties in connection with a subpoena.

How long we retain your data

We keep contact form entries for six months, analytics records for a year, and customer purchase records for ten years.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Security

Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted through the Services or over email; any transmission is at your own risk.
